Baptist Missions to Forgotten Peoples
BMFP is a non-profit local church centered organization servicing primarily the Independent Baptist Church movement in North America as a missionary sending agency. With the primary direction and objective of Church planting world-wide, the purpose of BMFP is to provide missionaries with an avenue for implementing innovative ministries in reaching the several thousand pockets of "forgotten peoples" in the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. BMFP Missionaries circle the globe bringing hope to forgotten ethnic groups, teenage runaways, alcoholics, prisoners, military personnel, and society's disadvantaged and overlooked. The missionaries that we are currently supporting, Dave and Sharon Spangler, serve in the Bahamas for BMFP. Since the Bahamas are composed of 700 Islands, with over 3000 people, they have a unique ministry with special needs. They have a six passenger, twin engine Aztec airplane and use it as a tool to move quickly between the islands to serve the people. As part of their flying ministry, they are able to fly teams to five different islands to do Vacation Bible School during July and August as well as to fly emergency medical trips to the hospital on Nassau which "has been a great opportunity to witness."
They also are able to partner with other ministries to fulfill a special flying need. One such partnership is with Operation Renewed Hope, a Missionary Medical Agency providing missionaries around the world with medical clinics as a means of reaching souls and starting churches. They recently had the opportunity to fly in clinic supplies and be part of the team in a clinic in Honduras.
They work with local pastors and conduct Bible studies to help spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and one major area God has opened up for them is the schools in the area. They are speaking in three Primary schools on a weekly basis and have been invited to conduct weekly Bible Classes in the local high schools.
Their future outreach ministries are the possibility of helping to establish a Bible College on another island and conduct Bible Studies on several islands simultaneously.
